About us

Welcome to Cupar Camera Club and thank you for visiting our website.  We are a small, friendly club catering for photographers of all abilities but with a common aim of seeking to improve our photography.

We are relatively unique within the area as a club with exclusive use of self-contained clubrooms located in the centre of Cupar. These rooms contain a lecture room with projection facilities, a fully equiped studio, computing suite (with printers), workroom and kitchen – all of which are available for use by our members, in addition to use during club nights.

We run a programme of lectures, presentations, workshops and competitions from September to April each year, with photographic outings and associated review and discussion evenings during the summer months. Our programme for the 2021/22 season can be viewed under the Resources section of this site.

Due to the pandemic our programme last season was delivered via Zoom which worked surprisingly well.  We were able to enjoy presentations from speakers from across the UK who otherwise would not have been available in Cupar. Indeed the general view of the members was that it proved to be one of the best programmes in recent years and we will commence the 2021/22 on Zoom with increasing physical meetings guided by the need to ensure the safety of our members and government advice.

Having enjoyed a highly successful year, in late June the club was saddened and shocked by the sudden death of Grant McLeish, who was our Vice Chair and Treasurer. The contribution to the club by Grant over many years was immense and included acting as club Chairman for a total of 11 years. It is a reflection of the debt of gratitude we owe to Grant that a new competition and trophy in his memory is planned, commencing in the 2021/22 season.

If you are interested in photography, you will find joining the club a great way to improve your skills and enjoy the company of like-minded people. Before deciding on whether to join the club as a member, you are welcome to visit a couple of our meetings. If you wish to take up this offer or require further information, please contact me by email, using the link found on the Who is Who section of this website.
